Quizno Blows

Being in Erie, we don't have all the fancy restaraunts them big ole' citites have. So only recently did we get Quiznos. Well, I tried it today, because it was on my way to work. I should have just driven the extra 6 blocks to Subway. First of all, the damn menu is 50 yards away and I honestly am not sure if I ordered the Turkey Light On Wheat or a Thursday Lick Of Weight...but whatever if was, I wanted no onion. Then they sent the sandwich through the heat conveyer belt and it scared me a little that I lost track of my sandwich for a bit. When it came out, there are all kinds of goodies you can add to your roll, but the lady never offered it to me and before I could say "Lick of Weight", she was wrapping that shit up and hurling it to the cashier. "Go Long!" Then I had to wait for said cashier to figure out how to re-ring up the guy in front of me because she pegged him as a "regular" and not a "small" kind of guy. Three hours later, I was on my way to freedom! She rings up my total for the Thursday Lick combo: $7.61 What?!? I could have two subs and and get felt up for the same price at Subway. I give her my hard earned money, although paying in quarters wasn't the smartest idea of mine. She counted every single quarter out loud (five dollars worth) and held my bag of food captive until she made sure it was the right amount. Good thing I didn't need a price check on tampons. Finally, when I got to work I opened up my sub, since by then I was starving, and you guessed it...Onions.

Is this at the Subway by Tinseltown?

Yeah, I ate at Quiznos-Erie once and ended up w/ stomch-cramping diarrhea by the time I got to Target. And that was on a mini-meatball sandwich ("mini" modifying "sandwich"). There was nothing there I couldn't get at Subway for less $ and healthier.

Damn, now I want Subway.

No, not by Tinseltown. Upper Peach Street is Subway heaven and I would have certainly visited one of them over Quiznos. I was down on 38th and Liberty.

Hey, are you trying to figure out where I work? Stalker!

I think Quizno's is vile. Of course I also think Subway is vile. Why in god's name if you have Wegmans are you not eating Wegmans?

I love Wegman's sub but don't prefer them because they don't offer pickles as a topping. You have to buy a prepackaged one and cut it yourself. Are they really saving all that much money not offering pickles? They are 3 cents a jar.

uh...wegmans doesn't offer pickles to people who don't regularly shop there. You have to visit the pharmacy, ask for Jill and then she will give you a card that says "pickle purchasing rights" then you can proceed to the subshop and request your pickles....or BRING YOUR OWN DAMN PICKLES!

Monica and I went to Quiznos last summer. I wanted a roasted chicken sub, and I didn't want to answer 20 questions. They kept asking me what kind of chicken....apparently there was 3 or 4 kinds of chicken. I just said "Just pick whatever you want, I just want a roasted chicken sub please". Then they squired italian dressing all over it, making it soggy, and charged me like $7.50 for it. When we got home, it didn't even taste that great.

What a waste. I like Mom's little sandwich things she makes on New Year's Eve much better anyways.

I just loked up the sub menu for the Peach Street Wegman's. If you look at the available toppings I think you will see you have been mistaken. Of course that's why I prefer ham salad!

I effin hate quizNOs.

Subway is pretty good. Wegman's wins in my mind. Too bad they don't have a Jersey Mike's here... they have the best subs ever.

No. I'll just ask Myrtle from Giant Eagle.

Yeah, Wegmans puts pickles on their subs if you ask. If they don't you can buy a big ol' deli pickle and alternate bites.

BTW: I had no idea there was another Quiznos in this town. When we left in 2003 there were no Quiznos, no TIm Hortons, one Starbucks... We come back and this town's gone crazy! Crazy!

I have been to Quizno's a time or two. They are at about 50% as far as a good time and food. Subway is OK but I can't stand Jerod and the new steak thing scares me.
I am sure Wegman's is a poor snadwich people in/from Erie bost about in an attempt to make themselves feel better.
The best Sub sandwich ever is from The Whole Darn Thing in Conneaut Lake. I knwo it is in PA and everything, but still it is damn fine.

Sandwiches are for children.

Anon (Jill),

If I were to go to my contact in the pharmacy at Wegmans, I certainly wouldn't ask for just pickles when you have a whole shitload of drugs back there! Oxy is not just for zits anymore.

Mrs. Sharon Bebout,
I've seen you eat sandwiches. Granted, you were being nice because that's all Kristen provided other than sugar packets, but you ate them! I'm making this up. I like them because if you aren't that hungry, its a nice snack. But obviously a 12 inch sub is more involved.

I thank you all for doing my bidding. I now know Wegman's provides pickles. Now which one of you is going to pick it up for me?

Kristen said...

Bitch you'd better FedEx me a Wegmans mutherfucker. I'm dying over here! When is lunch, dear god when is lunch?

I also want to point out that Mrs. Bebout has been known to feed people apps for dinner, so I don't think she should be turning her nose up at sammy's.

Mr. Bebout said...

It was tappas and they were for after dinner, and as I recall you enjoyed them quite a bit.

Kristen said...

I never said I didn't enjoy them. In fact since I have thought many times about your canned chicken salad, but if sandwiches are for children, surely tapas are for the pretentiously lazy.

Mr. Bebout said...

Well if that's how you feel we will be sure not to invite you to the next tappas party. And if you will recall, the first time you invited yourselves over.
Furthermore, it took quite a bit of effort to make sthe 7 or 8 dishes for 6 people.

I will agree that Quizno's menu is too far away. I never wear my glasses, therefore I can never read far way. And come on, I can read Subway's menu.
I made Jamie take me to Quizno's once because I felt bad for the guy standing outside in a Quizno's cup costume.
I will never return.

Sandwiches are for children is my slogan not my motto. I have and do each sandwiches. I do not prefer a cold sandwich. It reminds me of lunchtime in elementary school. Let's not get our panties in a knot.

Pretentiously lazy? One, tapas while not difficult to make are time consuming. Two, pretentious denotes pretending. I am not pretending to be lazy. I am lazy.

I guess the trick to Quiznos is knowing what to order. The Turkey Bacon Guacamole is really good. And there are a couple of others. That new prime rib thing isn't worth the cost.

And I don't care for Subway.

I can't believe this is the 23rd comment on a story about sandwiches but here it is:

Sandiwches are not just for children;. See "Parmenti Brothers."

When we move this summer, the closest WEgmans will be in State College. Hawk is already saying, "We can go to State College to shop." And get sammiches, you betcha.
